WORLD NO.1 Osaka Crashes Out
Top seed Naomi Osaka falls in straight sets in third round to Katerina Siniakova
Naomi Osaka’s 16-match Grand Slam winning streak is over after a shock 6-4, 6-2 loss to Czech Katerina Siniakova on Saturday.
The Japanese world No.1 sprayed 38 unforced errors on Court Suzanne-Lenglen in a 77-minute loss to the world No.42, who is also the doubles world No.1.
Siniakova progresses to a fourth-round meeting with either 14th seed Madison Keys – a semi-finalist in Paris last year – or Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova, who just snatched the second set of that match.
Osaka was attempting to become the first player since Serena Williams in 2015 to win three straight Grand Slam tournaments.
